JÓRMA (they/them) is the artpop alter-ego of Rotterdam-based music maker Jonathan Bonny (he/they). After several years of freelancing for international theater productions, he felt the need to combine their artistic skills with his ideologies and develop a unique signature combining the worlds of pop music and performance art. In 2022, JÓRMA released their debut EP intro, a collection of four original singles with videoclip. JÓRMA is also busy exploring how to connect and engange with their audience both virtually and physically. JÓRMA celebrates vulnerability, empathy and (un)learningJÓRMA is supported by talent development trajectory Station Noord in The Netherlands.

In 2021, the song introvert got nominated for the Rotterdam Track of the Year award. In 2022, JÓRMA was one of the five finalists at the Sena Performers Grote Prijs van Rotterdam competition, in the category singer-songwriter.

In January 2023 JÓRMA premiered THEY/THEM (an interdisciplinary gathering about belonging)  at Grand Theatre Groningen, followed by sold-out shows at Batavierhuis Rotterdam, Boring Festival, Grasnapolsky and Noorderzon Festival.

The mini-documentary below follows Jonathan making the very first steps toward JÓRMA in a residency in 2020 at WORM Roterdam. The aim was to start experimenting with sound 🎧, visual identity🎬 and movement🤸🏻‍♂️ to unravel the very first layers of who JÓRMA might be.

JÓRMA's debut single  Moonday is a coming-out anthem. For this track they reflected on what it means to be free 🎆

introvert is a personal take on the experience of (visibly) belonging to a minority or marginalised group 🌸

For this music video JÓRMA launched an open call for "everyone that wants to see themself represented".

Grindr Diaries is a conceptual exploration of hook-up culture and queer cruising. The song and video are reflections on the act of physically connecting to strangers, and offer an alternative to what most cruising situations look like 🔥

Luck is a love song and an encouragement to trust your intuition 🍀

You're not You is an emotional ballad about not being able to connect to someone you love 🥀

In November 2023 JÓRMA released their second EP AM I? AM I?.
